SINCE MAY 1 CARGOES EXPORTED TO THE US FROM CAT LAI PORT MUST BE SCANNED FOR RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS

According to Nguyen Thanh Long, Deputy Manager of SaiGon Seaport Customs Branch of Zone 1, said that Megaport, a new radiation detection system, began operating at Cat Lai Seaport. All cargo containers coming to the United States are scanned to detect radioactive materials

 

The system is radiation monitor facilitated to detect illicit nuclear and radioactive materials in transporting containerized cargoes.

 

The system equipment is accomodated by US government.

 

Early in 2014, this system had been installed and operated at other three ports under the management of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Customs Department, including Tan Cang - Cai Mep Container Terminal (TCCT), Tan Cang-Cai Mep International Container Terminal (TCIT) and SP-PSA international port.

 

The implementation of the Megaport system affirms Vietnam's goodwill and cooperation in preventing terrorism, protecting global security, and contributing to ensuring the security of each country, the stability and security in the region and the world.
